In Our Arms Blog
supporting caregivers, championing disabilities

Welcome to my blog!
I created this blog after caring for our youngest son, Robert, for eighteen years while he battled a rare mitochondrial disease. Because I found there were very few resources for me as a caregiver, I committed myself to changing the often lonely caregiving journey by providing resources and facilitating conversations about the raw truths, harsh realities and unexpected joys that come with accepting the caregivers' call.
If you are a caregiver, parent, or know and love someone with a disability, I hope you find inspiration, hope, understanding, and community on my blog. Please allow me to show you how our Robert was placed divinely "In Our Arms." Whether you are a member of this special group or share these writings with a friend or family member who is, I'm glad you're here!

“I'm in tears yet filled with joy while looking through your website. Wow! It's incredibly beautiful, powerful and impactful. I love knowing about your son Robert's toothy smile. Your smiley photos on your email signature are lighting up my day. I'll be printing out the kind cards and downloading your playlist.” – Sofia

“Sweet Juli - What a heartfelt post and I appreciate your realness during such a time that stirred up all those emotions! I felt like I was in the moment with you all as it washed over you ... Really hard and dark and then there's God all over it. You give permission for all of us, even those who have not had such deep, long seasons and years like you all had, to assess where we are, at whatever level and apply the Truth you shared. Finally, the song at the end - perfect!” – Cathy Merwarth

“Your raw emotion and pointing back to God's sufficiency was such a blessing to me as I know it is to the women facing the same painful walk you went through and continue to navigate as waves wash over you in the remembrance.” – Dr. Alisa Lane

“I just caught up on reading your blog and it truly sends me in so many emotional journeys that I am blessed to have met you in order to have read them! You and Chris are such gifted writers, you are able to express so many emotions, even those that are hard to discuss, in such a poignant way. You are truly a wonderful family!” – Lisa Neal

“I can relate to so much of what you write in your beautiful blog.
I didn't have a special needs child but a special needs mother. Your words give me so much comfort. Thank you!” – Heidi Lentz
