Happy International Women's Day! This day reminds me that caregiving is not a side role. It is central to the health and dignity of our communities, and women are often the ones holding those communities together. Today, I acknowledge the interdependence between caregivers and the people they support. I celebrate the women who are the backbone of families, schools, and neighborhoods across all cultures and abilities.
You may remember an email from January where I mentioned a day full of emotions? I am excited to share that podcast interview with the impeccable Amy Julia Becker is out now. I am grateful to her for inviting me into this conversation to discuss the dual roles women carry and the unseen labor that sustains our communities. It was a pleasure to join her and the Take the Next Step podcast team.
I'd love for you to watch it and let me know your thoughts. Amy Julia Becker is a caregiver to her daughter, Penny, and is doing an amazing job writing and advocating for caregivers and people with disabilities. On her podcast, we touch on important issues that we face as mom and caregiver, and how we can find respite in these challenging jobs.
